Leaders Represent Whole of Southern California
TORRANCE, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software Council of Southern California today announced the finalists for the 2005 Software Industry Awards. The awards, which will be presented at a gala dinner event on Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, honor individuals and companies that have made extraordinary contributions to the growth of Southern California as a center for technological innovation.
"We are pleased at the range of companies who submitted nominations and ultimately were selected as finalists," said Jon Kraft, Software Council chairman of the board. "The finalists exemplify the dynamism and growth of technology in the region, from Santa Barbara to San Diego."
Presented by the Software Council, the awards are sponsored by CJ Patrick Company, Dorsey & Whitney, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ruder Finn and Silicon Valley Bank.
Finalists
A total of fifteen companies have been selected as finalists in the following five awards categories:

Lifetime Achievement Award
The Council also will be awarding its second Lifetime Achievement Award to
Lee Roberts, chairman and CEO of FileNet, recognizing his contributions to the
area's software industry. Roberts' leadership at FileNet has driven the
company's evolution into a top enterprise content management and business
process management provider, along with the globalization of its sales,
marketing and support organizations. Roberts' influence in the area spreads to
his varied affiliations with local groups, including the boards of MessageGate
and Noetix, as well as the AeA and University of California at Irvine CEO
Roundtable.
Keynote Address
In addition to the awards presentation, this year's Software Industry
Awards will include a keynote address by William Weyand, the new CEO of
MSC.Software.
A 35-year technology veteran, Weyand most notably was chairman and CEO of
Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), until its successful sale to
EDS in 2001. He was appointed chairman and CEO of MSC.Software in February
2005. Weyand's keynote address will focus on "Building Software Companies for
Growth."
